Are designer makeup brushes really worth the money?

I only have one brush and it cost 20 dollars! Sure, it works fantastic, but it was so expensive! I don't want to break the bank all the time, and my other brushes are really cheap so there's a lot of fall-out. (I use a q-tip or my fingers most of the time). I'm wondering... should I really invest in designer brushes (MAC, etc) because they seem to get great reviews....?

A good makeup brush makes a big difference. MAC has good brushes but there are other brands out there they have even better brushes. For example STILA and BOBBI BROWN. Clinique makeup brushes have an antibacterial coding so they don't grow bacterias. All the big brands like DIOR, YSL, CHANEL,ESTEE LAUDER or LANCOME have very good quality brushes. Many ladies are afraid of wearing a red lipstick. Some of them think that red is too bright. I would say it is very important to wear the right undertone for your skin complexion. For example I personally look better wearing a warm undertone than with a blue one.

Very Dry Skin or Dehydration?

The Winter is here. Our skin changes its condition as the season changes.
In cold weather our skin gets dry, red and uncomfortable. First thing that comes in someone's mind is to use a richer moisturizer. But your skin might need just more water. Even if you use a richer moisturizer you might feel like is still not enough.
Let's first make one thing clear.
A Very Dry skin needs both water and oil. Those two elements are equally important.

How do you know if your skin type is Very Dry?
Your skin feels dry all over your face. If you don't wear a moisturizer it's uncomfortable during the day. No visible pores. No surface oil.
This skin type needs a richer texture moisturizer for both day and night for the winter time. The day one must have SPF 15 or higher.

Why is it important to wear a SPF in the winter time?
The UVA rays are sun related. The UVB rays are daylight related, no matter what the weather's like out there those rays are still damaging your skin. So, the first prevention option is to wear a sun screen all the time during the day. Your SPF should be at least 15 and you should start wearing it at the earliest possible age.

A Combination to Dry skin needs mostly water. Using a richer texture moisturizer might feel too greasy for your T-zone. And besides your skin needs basically more water not necessary more oil.

How do you know if your skin type is Combination to Dry?
Your skin is a little oily only on T-zone, but your cheeks are dry. Sometimes it might get a bit shiny on t-zone. Pores are small. Skin on your cheeks feels uncomfortable during the day so you really need to wear a moisturizer.

This skin type need an water based moisturizer to be used twice a day in addition to your regular day or night moisturizer during the winter.

As a skin care expert I can also recommend you the right skincare products and brands for your skin needs.

Halloween Party Make-up

Halloween night is coming and we all start to think about it.

First step in getting ready for the Halloween party is to choose a character like vamp, witch or a ghost. It's a great fun night as on this night adults and children both scare each other. Dressing up for Halloween party is very important. But to complete your Halloween look wearing the appropriate make up is equally important. It is very important to prepare your face first for the party make up. That's how your makeup will stayon all night long. Wash your face first, then exfoliate and follow with a moisturizer. Wait 2,3 minutes andapply foundation.

How to look like a witch

You need to cover the face with green orwhite foundation or powder makeup. With a black eye liner draw lines in V shape in the middle of the forehead and some around the mouth. Then a sponge to smudge them. Use a purple or blue eye liner and draw lines on the hands almost follow the veins to make the hands look old. Tease and spray hair with a super stick hairspray. Place in a few plastic bugs.

How to get bruises

Bruising is very easy way to get into Halloween look. Use some make up to create a bruised look. You need three colors eye shadows-dark blue, charcoal and shimmer green, and a make up brush or a sponge. With wet brush or sponge blot a deep blue powder eye shadow on face. Use your fingertips to add blots of charcoal gray and blue shadows. Give touch up to edges with a shimmer olive green. Smudge the bruise.

Blood

Blood is a must to get vamp look. Use some red lipstick and apply it wherever you want to. You can smudge it with a sponge or use an angle brush for a perfect line.

Older witches look

Older witches look is very easy to create with make up. Use lighter color make up over skin using the palest shade of foundation and white baby powder. Then draw the dark lines over skin. It gives that old, dry look perfect for Halloween party.

Clinique Holiday makeup collection 2009

Clinique Holiday Makeup Look for 2009 is very classy, simple and chic.

Like all the other big make-up brands Clinique comes with pinks and purples. A less dramatic makeup look. I would say very fresh.

For eyes the eye shadows are:

Frosted Blossom
Purple Pixie
Black Orchid

The eyeliner is Cream Shaper for Eyes in Starry Plum. I must say I personally have this eyeliner and I love it. It`s very easy to play with because it`s very creamy at first. But then it gets dry and stays in place all day long.

For lip makeup there is a new lipstick color - Pinkberry. It belongs to Long Lasting Line which has a great texture. It stays on pretty much without drying your lips.

On top of the lipstick use Long Last Glosswear SPF15 in Clearly Pink.

As a lip liner the suggestion is Quickliner for Lips - Raspberry

Complete your make up with Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Smoldering Plum or Iced Lotus.

Clinique makeup is 100% fragrance free and allergy tested. It is very good quality and their stuff is reasonable in price.

Which Clinique mascara is best for sensitive eyes?

I usually use Naturally Glossy(in brown) but it has finally run out (6 months on!).
Was thinking about trying Lash Power High Definition, again by Clinique.
But as they're both expensive at £13 I thought I'd seek opinions first.
So, Naturally Glossy or High Definition?
Black or Brown?
I wear contacts and have very sensitive eyes. Almay etc etc have all irritated me, but I've had no problems with Naturally Glossy, although it is very subtle. I wouldn't mind a bit more drama as my lashes are both fair and short, but not a false look.

What's the best powder foundation for oily skin?

I have oily skin and I've been trying to find the right powder foundation for me because liquids are just way too cakey. I've tried a lot of different ones and none of them seem to work very well. Ieven tried bare minerals (paid $63 for it thinking it would work) but after just a little while it made my skin look oily. What should I use?

First of all you have to keep in mind you need to use the right foundation or powder texture for your skin type. They have to be oil free.
Second-not all that's expansive works for your skin needs. We are all different. You have to custom fit the textures to your personal skin needs.
For ex : Almost makeup SPF15 oil free foundation from Clinique - very lightweight, very soft finish. Doesn't give you too much coverage. It's 25 CAD.... read more

Are designer makeup brushes really worth the money?

I only have one brush and it cost 20 dollars! Sure, it works fantastic, but it was so expensive! I don't want to break the bank all the time, and my other brushes are really cheap so there's a lot of fall-out. (I use a q-tip or my fingers most of the time). I'm wondering... should I really invest in designer brushes (MAC, etc) because they seem to get great reviews....?

I am 13 and a half, and would like to start wearing makeup to school. I wear mascara and curl my lashes, but its only light. I do not want go to over board with it, I still want to look natural and not heavy. I would like my eyes to be the first noticed, I have big-ish (not potato big) hazel eyes.

I personally think this a great collection. I am not a big fan of dark lips but I like how it goes with deep smokey eyes.
