How can I find the best cosmetics?

Every day I meet people looking for the best makeup or skincare product. There are so many cosmetics out there. It's getting confusing. You would like to get a better eyeliner or foundation or even a new lipstick. How do you know where to go or which brand is better? Can you actually trust the beauty consultant in front of you? Does she give you the right advice or does she want to make her sales goal?
Here are few things for you to have in mind when you step in a cosmetics department of a big store. Because I do not advice anyone to buy cosmetics (skincare or makeup) in a drug store. Sorry but as an experienced makeup artist and accredited skincare expert I do not believe in drug store cosmetics. I'd better have a bare face than wearing cheap skincare or makeup.
So, first take a good look at the beauty consultant makeup you want to talk to. Their own makeup says a lot about how good they are. Pay attention to the way they approach you. She should greet you with a big, friendly smile. Ask lots of questions. See how professional she/he answers. You can even book a makeup appointment and have your make up done. If at the end of makeup session you look in the mirror and you like what you see... here is your makeup expert.
The best place to find a talented professional makeup artist or skincare expert is at a big cosmetic brand counter. All the best cosmetic brands like Dior, Chanel, Estee Lauder, etc.., generally have very qualified people. Not all the time though.
That's why my goal is create that on line "store" where you can find all the information you need. I am here to answer all the questions you might have.

Makeup for School? 7th Grade?

I am in seventh grade (13). I've been wanting to wear makeup since school started, so I think I will. I think too much makeup on teens looks bad, too. I've been practicing on the weekends, and I think I've come up with a good look. Here is what I think I should wear:
1. Wet n' Wild Mink Brown Eyeliner (it is really dark brown, almost black) I want to put it on the lower waterline and on the top lid in between the lashes.
2. Maybelline Volumizing Mascara in Black/Brown. (yes, that is a shade). Only on the top lashes.
3. Maybe some eyeshadow, maybe not. I can't decide. But if I do, it will be a lilac shade from Maybelline or a bronze shade from ELF.
4. Lip gloss. Mary Kay Melon Sorbet Nourishine Lip Gloss. Or Wet n' Wild Sinfull.
I have green eyes, black eyelashes, slightly tanned skin (only a summer tan. it will turn white in winter) and blonde hair.
Is this makeup good for school? For a 7th grader?

As you describe your look I would say any dark shade for liner might be too harsh. I recommend you use a soft brown eyeliner and smudge it. This way you don't have to worry about not drawing a perfect line and you will get a softer finish. Plus it will help your eyes to pop out. This and mascara I think is enough for you now. You don't really need an eyeshadow. You will have time to play with the shadows or if you really insist to use one - go for very soft shades.

What makeup to wear?

I am 13 and a half, and would like to start wearing makeup to school. I wear mascara and curl my lashes, but its only light. I do not want go to over board with it, I still want to look natural and not heavy. I would like my eyes to be the first noticed, I have big-ish (not potato big) hazel eyes.
What are the best brands to use ? How do I apply them with it still looking natural?

I recommend you use a very lightweight foundation just to even your skin tone and to protect your skin.( ex Almost makeup SPF 15 from Clinique) It's very soft finish. For eyes I think it would be enough for you to use a creamy eyeshadow in a very soft color like a soft pink, peach or beige. A soft brown liner that I suggest you smudge so it looks softer and you don't have to worry about not drawing a perfect line. Some mascara and a nice soft color lip gloss.

How do I get my MAC makeup to not be cakey?

My face gets very oily very fast, especially in the T-Zone. I have tried a ton of foundations as well as mineral makeups. The mineral makeup, even bare escentuals, would get very cakey. I am currently using MAC studio fix fluid as my foundation and it has been great, except for my nose. I cannot prevent it from getting cakey. I even tried applying different moisturizers before hand. What else can I do? My cheeks and forehead and everywhere else is fine. I dont know what else to do.

The foundation that you are using is fine. The problem is that you need to clean and exfoliate your skin properly. As you describe your skin it seems that it's a combination to oily skin. It is normal for you to get oily ( especially on your t-zone) during the day. But as long as you have a very good cleansing routine every day, you will keep the shine under control. Your makeup gets a bit cakey on your nose because you have too many dead cells on the surface of your skin and you are probably dehydrated. You have to wash your face with a face soap custom fit to your skintype and skin needs. ( ex Face Soap Oily Formula- Clinique), then you have to exfoliate your skin. Use a gentle liquid exfoliator custom fit to your skin strength. Add an oil free lightweight moisturizer. You have to use these 3 things twice a day. This way your skin will be brighter, smoother, your foundation will look better and will stay all day long.

Different make up look!

I have a tan complexion, big brown/green eyes and a round face.High cheek bones. Light brown hair. My make up consists of golds, browns light pinks, silvers. I wear beige-light pink lips for some reason Icannot pull off a darker look. . I want to see what other styles Icould try without coming off as awful.

A good color for you to try as you describe your skin complexion is a khaki for eyes. (for ex Martini eyeshadow with True Khaki quickliner from Clinique). Use a soft peach blush and nudes for lips.

What's the best powder foundation for oily skin?

I have oily skin and I've been trying to find the right powder foundation for me because liquids are just way too cakey. I've tried a lot of different ones and none of them seem to work very well. Ieven tried bare minerals (paid $63 for it thinking it would work) but after just a little while it made my skin look oily. What should I use?

First of all you have to keep in mind you need to use the right foundation or powder texture for your skin type. They have to be oil free.
Second-not all that's expansive works for your skin needs. We are all different. You have to custom fit the textures to your personal skin needs.
For ex : Almost makeup SPF15 oil free foundation from Clinique - very lightweight, very soft finish. Doesn't give you too much coverage. It's 25 CAD.
For more coverage with very soft finish I recommend Superbalanced oil free from Clinique(25 CAD) or Double wear from Estee Lauder (33CAD). They are both liquids, very good coverage with a very soft finish.
I am very oily skin myself and I have freckles. So I need lots of coverage. I personally use Superbalanced from Clinique. I am very happy with it and it stays very well on till the end of the day.
My favorite powder foundation is Almost makeup powder spf15 from Clinique (30CAD). It doesn't give you as much coverage as the liquids that I mentioned though.

Would a powder foundation work for me?

I have oily skin in my t-zone and sometimes on my cheeks. I get break outs only on my t-zone (whiteheads/pustules) and I have acne scars. I've been using liquid and I think it's making me break out more and I can't find one that will cover what I need it to. Do you think powder foundation will work for me? Why or why not??

As you describe your skin you are obviously oily skin type. There are two very important things for you to keep in mind. First one is to have a very good cleaning routine twice a day. (for ex a 3 step system from Clinique) This way you will keep the extra production of oil of your skin under control and you will get rid of whiteheads and scars... read more

Are designer makeup brushes really worth the money?

I only have one brush and it cost 20 dollars! Sure, it works fantastic, but it was so expensive! I don't want to break the bank all the time, and my other brushes are really cheap so there's a lot of fall-out. (I use a q-tip or my fingers most of the time). I'm wondering... should I really invest in designer brushes (MAC, etc) because they seem to get great reviews....?

A good makeup brush makes a big difference. MAC has good brushes but there are other brands out there they have even better brushes. For example STILA and BOBBI BROWN. Clinique makeup brushes have an antibacterial coding so they don't grow bacterias. All the big brands like DIOR, YSL, CHANEL,ESTEE LAUDER or LANCOME have very good quality brushes. They are just way more expansive. MAC are very popular because they are affordable and good quality. Similar in price are Stila and Clinique.
You spend lots of money to get good ones but they last for years so it's a good investment. They really worth the money. You get a very good makeup finish and you don't waste your makeup( foundation, powder, eye shadows).

How to make my skin flawless without makeup?

I have some little pimples..and skin gone dark day by day, though m fair by born.

You need to have a good cleansing routine. It is very important to exfoliate your skin twice a day so you get rid of dead cells they sit at the surface of your skin and you won't break out. You need to use a soap for your skintype - which could be liquid or bar. The soap cleans your skin properly.( for ex Clinique- it's affordable, very efficient and last a long time). After washing your face with the soap you need to exfoliate.

A liquid exfoliator custom fit to your skin strength would be the best. It has to be liquid because you need to use it twice a day and anything with beets would be to harsh. Again I recommend you Clinique Claryfying lotion nr. 2 or 3, depending on your skin strength. That's the key product in your routine that will help your skin look flawless. Then you need a moisturizer for your skin type. Go for a lightweight texture. for ex if you are an oily skintype use an oil free moisturizer.

Using this 3 things twice a day, your skin will look flawless, brighter and smoother. There is one more product that would help a bit more- Turneround Concentrate from Clinique. It's a serum that has salicylic acid- the key ingredient that exfoliates your skin very gently.

Fall 2009 makeup trend - 80's are back!

makeup trend
80's are back! Now we can play with your eyes colors, lips and cheeks at the same time. Skip the heavy foundation and powder textures, use sheer textures and uplightings and you are very modern.

Mix purple and steel blue with some lavender eyeshadows and plum eyeliner. For cheeks use a peach blush and berry for lips. There you go! Perfectly trendy makeup! Those colors can be use by anyone with any eye color - blue, green, hazel or brown.Punk eyes neon lips trend

Lots of pink or red lips with blue and green eye shadows. Plenty of colors all together.

Punk eyes and neon lips is the latest makeup trend perfect for clubbing. You need a black eyeshadow and a black liner. Use an angle brush to smudge and blend them like in the picture.

For lips a fuchsia lip liner and a glossy neon lipstick.

This makeup trend goes very well with all eye colors as well.

What's the best way to ensure your make-up stays on for longer?

I put on moisturizer then foundation but it doesn't last till the end of school..it barley lasts till lunch. Has anyone got any advice on this? I've heard Gosh Primer is good for keeping foundation on and it's better for your skin.

First you have to make sure you clean and exfoliate your skin properly in the morning. (the exfoliator has to be gentle and custom fit to your skin type and needs). Then make sure you use the right moisturizer for your skintype. If you are oily skin you have to use a moisturizer oil free otherwise this could be one of the reasons why your foundation doesn't stay on all day. Use just one layer of foundation which again it has to be custom fit for your skin type. Usually if your skin has too many dead cells at the surface and the textures of moisturizer and foundation aren't right for your skintype your makeup won't stay on. It might be as well the quality of foundation you are using. A primer helps but it is not absolutely necessary. I have very oily skin and I have to wear makeup every day at work. I use 3step system from Clinique every day morning and night. I use Superbalanced foundation from Clinique as well. My makeup stays all day and I do no touch ups.

Which Clinique mascara is best for sensitive eyes?

I usually use Naturally Glossy(in brown) but it has finally run out (6 months on!).
Was thinking about trying Lash Power High Definition, again by Clinique.
But as they're both expensive at £13 I thought I'd seek opinions first.
So, Naturally Glossy or High Definition?
Black or Brown?
I wear contacts and have very sensitive eyes. Almay etc etc have all irritated me, but I've had no problems with Naturally Glossy, although it is very subtle. I wouldn't mind a bit more drama as my lashes are both fair and short, but not a false look.

All Clinique mascaras are for sensitive eyes. Lash Doubling is very gentle as well, stays in place all day long, very easy too remove and gives you more definition without being too much. Lash Power mascara is good too. That's the one that's smudge proof and it is for someone that wears contacts. You need to use warm water to remove it. It has a tiny brush and gives you enough definition. Naturally Glossy is the softest of all. That's why you are not that happy with. High Definition has a special brush which is half comb half brush. I'm personally not a good fan of this one. I find it a bit difficult to apply. And it clumps if you have too much product on the brush. As for color if you have blue or green eyes I advise you to use brown.

What's the best mascara that doesn't smudge?

I'm so sick of using mascaras and every time I use it I face the same problem " the smudging".

You have to try a smudge proof one. Clinique has a very good new one. It is called Lash Power mascara. It is 18 CAD. It stays on no matter what. I use it when I go to swimming pool or if it's hot weather. It is thermal active and you need only warm water to remove it.

I personally use Dior - Blackout on top lashes because I like having very dramatic lashes. But I always use Lash Power mascara on the bottom lashes because doesn't smudge.

Whats a good scrub for getting rid of lines?

I have lines on my forehead and I don't want to turn like my Nana who has wrinkles all over so what's something that's cheap that I can use to get them away. Scrub mask cleanser anything under 10$ - 15 $ I'm also 15 I wont use it everyday once a week or twice so my skin don't get used to it.

Those lines on your forehead are just expression lines. They might seem more obvious sometimes because your skin is dehydrated. When we lose water out of our skin, our lines look deeper. Expression lines have nothing to do with wrinkles. At your age we can't talk about anything like that. You need two things. One is to exfoliate your skin in order to let an water based moisturizer be absorbed by your skin. Otherwise it sits at the surface of your skin and doesn't do too much. Unfortunately I won't recommend you a cheap stuff. I know you don't like that. But I can recommend you the cheapest good quality product for your skin concerns. One is "7 Day Scrub" from Clinique. A very gentle scrub that exfoliatesyour skin. It can be used 4, 5 times a week. It's 22 CAD. The second product that will help you a lot is "Moisture Surge Relief Cream"- the same brand. A boost of water for your skin, oil free, silky texture. It makes your line less visible.

How many foundation layers are enough?

I wear a lot of layers, which I need to cut down on because my skin gets all dry and patchy now.
Any ideas how many layers a girl should wear?

Only one layer. You have to use the right foundation for your skin needs and for your skintype. There are foundations on the market they give you enough coverage but they have a lovely texture and a very soft finish. Try Estee Lauder- double wear or Clinique- superbalanced, for example. There are more out there and they are not too expansive.

To to keep foundation from getting shiny?

So today I put on my foundation in the morning a long with some powder and blush, and later on I was out in the sun for a few hours, I didn't sweat, but my face still looks kinda shiny. Anything I can do to keep that from happening?

There are two aspects you have to pay attention to. One it's about how you clean your skin. Clean, exfoliate and moisturize your skin twice a day. This way you will have a better, softer and matte makeup finish all day long even in the sun. Second of all you may use a primer. A very good primer has Shiseido and it's 25CAD. It's very good and inexpensive. It keeps the shine away very well.
And of course you have to use the right texture for your skin type. If you have oily skin you have to use oil free makeup and moisturizer.

Allergic to mineral make up?

So I have oily, acne prone, extremely sensitive skin. I've tried Sheer Cover and Bare Minerals and both made me break out terribly. I don't know what exactly I'm allergic to. But I need make up to cover the blemishes and redness those make up caused. What would be safe to use for me?
And also, how the heck can I clear my skin again? I had somewhat acne free skin with a few acne marks, now I have blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, and cysts. All of it is on my cheek and along my jawline (and it HURTS!!!). I used Proactiv for 2 months be I think it made it worse.

As you describe your skin problems it is obvious to me you have a combination to oily skin. You need to clean your skin properly. You have to use custom fit products for your skin needs. You've used Proactiv just because you've heard is for acne but everyone skin is different. Proactiv is very harsh for the skin. Anyway, I recommend you 3 step system from Clinique. Look for an accredited Clinique consultant and ask to be skintyped. Step 1 is to use a soap to clean your skin, in your case is the oily skin formula and comes in bar or liquid. I personally use the liquid one because I have the same skin type like you. Over night your skin produces lots of toxins and dead cells because renews. If you don't remove the dead cells they clog your pores. Our oily skin produces obviously more oil and if the pores are clogged then we break out. That's way it's extremely important to exfoliate your skin. Step 2 is a toner that exfoliates your skin very gently. Exfoliating your skin will unclog pores and your skin will be brighter and smoother. Step 3 is to moisturize your skin. You have to use only oil free moisturizers and makeup.
In the evening - use a makeup remover first if you wear a foundation or powder. Then use the same things as in the morning.
It is very important to do this twice a day. That's how you keep your skin clean all the time and it always looks healthy and good.
I recommended you this brand in particular because it is for sensitive skin. As I said I use it myself and I am very happy with. Even though I have oily skin my skin looks really good. And besides they have good prices.
Your foundation has to be oil free as well. I personally use the same brand. I use superbalanced oil free liquid foundation. It's 25CAD, gives me the coverage I need, because I have freckles and it has a soft finish.

How do you clean your eye liner brush? And how often?

The best way to clean your brushes is with a special brush cleanser. I personally use the Clinique brush cleanser spray which is 16CAD and last me for about an year. I have to mention I have lots of makeup brushes and I clean them pretty often. But MAC has a good one too and as far as I know is a bit cheaper. You spray it on brush and then you rub the brush on a tissue. It take only few seconds. Do it like once a week.
Other ways to clean your brushes are by using baby shampoos or foaming makeup removers. The only deference is that a brush cleanser has some sanitizing ingredients as well to kill bacterias wich is very important especially for your eye makeup brushes.

What is the best way to put foundation on?

The best way to apply you foundation is with a foundation brush. Such a brush gives you the best finish and you don't waste the product. There are lots of foundation brushes out there. All big cosmetic brands have very good brushes. I personally use a Clinique foundation brush because all makeup brushes from Clinique have an antibacterial coding and they don't grow bacterias. But very good foundation brushes you may find at MAC, Stila, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Estee Lauder...etc. Those brushes are a bit expansive but it is better to invest in a very good one from the very beginning. You will have it for years. It is very easy to clean it. I clean mine like once or twice a week. If it's too dirty you won't get the same soft finish.
Other than using a brush you may use fingers. But you won't get the same soft finish and you waste your makeup.
Sponge application is the worst. A sponge keeps the germs inside even if you wash it. It absorbs lot of product and you get the worst finish.

Face washing routine?

I'm trying to start out a new face washing routine.
I'm looking for advice about how often people use masks, toners and moisturizers. Also what brands.

I recommend 3 step system from Clinique. That's a very good routine for your skin. In the morning - use 3 step system from Clinique which has to be custom fit to your skin type. Step 1 is to use a soap to clean your skin. Over night your skin produces lots of toxins and dead cells because renews.

Step 2 is a toner that exfoliates your skin very gently. Exfoliating your skin it's very important. Your skin will be brighter and smoother.

Step 3 is to moisturize your skin.
In the evening - use a makeup remover first if you wear a foundation or powder. Then use the same things as in the morning.
It is very important to do this twice a day. That's how you keep your skin clean all the time and it always looks healthy and good.
I would advice you to use a mask once or twice a week. Buy a good brand because you use just a bit every week and you will have it for a long time. I recommended you this brand because they have the best cleansing system and it's affordable.

Why do I have to wash my eyeliner off before I got to bed?

I put eyeliner on BEFORE I got to bed, like right before, because then it absorbs into my skin and I can wake up in the morning, and I can rub my eyes without smearing the eyeliner. (I only put eyeliner on, on the bottom of my eyes, sometime only a little on the top.)

Our skin renews overnight. If you leave your liner on your skin in that area can't renew. So you will damage your skin in that area. You suppose to clean your skin properly twice a day. During the day your skin gets dirty of the environment. Overnight it renews and produces toxins and dead cells. If you don't remove your makeup by the next day in the morning you will have eyeliner mixed with dead cells and toxins at the surface of your skin.

Makeup...color confusion?

I'm really confused. People always say that brown makeup contrasts with blue eyes and makes them look bluer, but then they companies make mascaras that have a blue tint to them and say they're for blue eyes. I'm so confused! I used to wear brown-black mascara and I just bought a tube of the bluish one. Which one would look better on me? I have blue eyes, red hair, and I'm pale ish. Oh and I don't normally wear anything but mascara, but coverup and brown eyeliner occassionally. Which color of mascara would make my eyes stand out more?

If you wear brown the color of your eyes will show up more. If you wear blue, the same colors of your eyes then the shape of your eyes will pop up. They both work for you it depends what do you want.

How to apply foundation properly?

I have tried, and failed.
Everyday I see pretty girls with stunning make-up on for hours and hours.
I know they don't use primers, so how do they keep them looking like that all day? And how do you apply foundation properly.

1. how to keep foundation on without a primer?
2. how to apply foundation properly with a foundation brush or finger tips.
3. how many layers should i wear? i wear round about 4 but it all rubbs off to easily.

You don't really need to use a primer in order to make your foundation stay on very well all day long. There are 2 very important things that you have to follow. First it is extremely important to exfoliate your skin and second you need a very good quality product. I will explain now. Exfoliation helps you get rid of all dead cells they are at the surface of our skin. They give you that dull look and you can totally put the blame on them for all the bad things happening with your foundation. We need to exfoliate our skin twice a day, of course using the proper products. That's why I recommend you 3 step System from Clinique. You will be skin typed and you get your custom fit system for your skin needs. This way you will clean, exfoliate and moisturize your skin properly. Then in time if you want a smoother skin add Turneround Concentrate(a Clinique serum that helps a lot if you want that perfect flawless look). Talking about foundation- it is very important for you to get the right texture for your skin type and skin needs. I recommend you Superbalanced from Clinique. It is my favorite because it gives you a very soft finish, it's a liquid. It has a very good price- 25CAD. Even though I am oily skin it stays on all day and gives me the coverage I need to cover my freckles. It works for me but you have to try it and see if it works for you too. You might need a different one.
As for the application matter, the best way to do it it's with a brush and in just one layer. Don't get me wrong, I recommended you this brand in particular because it has good quality products for a very reasonable price. That's why I use them myself and I am very happy with them.

How do I get pencil eyeliner to stay on all day on my bottom lid?(inside not below)?

Without using a primer, mine just comes off in black lines under my eyes.

There are eyeliners made to be used inside your eyes. They are called Kohl pencils or eyeliners. You can find very good quality ones at Clinique- Kohl Shaper for Eyes-it's 20CAD and last forever. I've tried it and it stays in place all day. Other options are Chanel- Le crayon Khol, Sephora- Keep Kohl! Waterproof Liner, Guerlain- Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner ,Stila, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder...they all have very good ones. All you have to do it's just to use the right product for inside your eyes and it won't come off.

What are your favorite eyeshadows ?

My favorite eyeshadows are Stila and Dior. I use some Clinique as well but it doesn't have too much pigment. Clinique is very good for daytime because it's soft. I love Stila because it has a great texture. You get on your eyelid exact the same color as in container. It has a great texture as well. It stays on all day and doesn't fade. For example all MAC eyeshadows I've tried they faded by the end of the day, and I always use a very good eye primer.Dior and Bobbi Brown are of my favorites, too but they are a little bit more expansive.

Any eyeliner that doesn't smear easy?

My eyeliner smears way too easy.
I don't want thing you saw on t.v, your experience please?

I'm personally very happy with Quickliner for eyes from Clinique. It's creamy when you put it on so you can smudge it if you want but in one minute gets dry and stays in place all day long even if you swim. I love it. Very good price for the quality(19 CAD). It's water resistant.

It comes in a very large range of colors. I have it in Black/Brown, True Khaki, Navy, Really Black, Slate, Moss and Violet. And it's easy to remove, too.

High end moisturizer, or a drugstore eye cream?

Do you think it would be better to buy a high end moisturizer to use as an eye cream, or a drugstore eye cream?

I need to start using eye cream now, but drugstore eye creams are around $10-$20 for 0.5 oz. (usually)
On the other hand, department store/high end brands sell face moisturizers for around maybe $40? and it more than 0.5 oz, as well as being better quality--usually

Which do you think would be a better choice? I mean, I have read that moisturizers and eye creams are practically the same thing.

As a skincare expert I recommend you use a brand name eye cream custom fit to your eye area needs. The brand eye creams are more expansive because they have a better concentration of ingredients. Skin around your eyes is three times thinner than on your face. That's why we get first signs of aging around our eyes. It is very important you take very good care of your skin around eyes. The sooner you start and the better products you use the better it is. Once the damage is done it is very hard to repair it. So it is better to prevent. You don't have to buy the most expansive one but a good brand will help for sure. For example - you can start with All about eyes from Clinique.(it's 37CAD)

I am confused about what Toner is?

I have heard some different things about toner; but mostly that its good for your skin?

1. What is it and how is it good for your skin?
2. What does it do?
3. What are good brands and products?
4. Does your toner make a difference on your skin?(for the better)

Different brands give toners different jobs. For example Clinique toner exfoliates, other big brands have ingredients to give your skin a mate finish.... but most of brands say that toner refreshes your skin.
I recommend you to be skin typed by a skincare expert so you make sure you get the right one for your skin type and skin needs. Because we all have completely different skin needs.
Anyway I personally advice you to start with the 3step System from Clinique. I use it for a long time. I am very happy with. It really makes a difference. I am oily skin and since I've started using it I have beautiful skin.

Whats a good foundation that covers spots but doesn't cause more spots?

Does foundation cause spots? (teenage spots)
What the best foundation not to do that? and the foundation I have at the moment tends to give me dry skin...!

As long as you wear the right foundation for your skintype you will be fine. For your age you need to use an oil free foundation but again it has to be the right texture so it won't dry out your skin.
I recommend you try Clinique - Almost Makeup SPF15 or Supefit. They are both very lightweight, oil free. They give a very soft finish, some coverage without drying your skin. If you want to go for more coverage then try Perfectly Real- Clinique. I recommend you this brand in particular because they have very good foundations and very affordable. Very good foundations you will find at Estee Lauder or Dior, but they are more expansive.

What are some Natural Masks?

What are some home made masks I can make for Acne and oily skin?
Or what is one good way to dry out your skin real well over night?

I would not advise you to dry out your skin. You need a good cleansing system to clean your face so you will keep the excess of oil under control. Than you have to exfoliate your skin twice a day so you will get rid of the dead cells they clog your pores. This way you won't break out anymore. And in third place you have to give your skin an oil free moisturizer. You need some water into your skin. If you dehydrate your skin you ruin your moisture barrier and you'll have more skin problems.
There are some very good masks for your skin problems as well. For ex Deep Cleansing Mask from Clinique. It is made with clay. It is affordable. As for natural masks homemade I've tried myself but they never really helped me.

What foundation do you like best?

I'm out of my current foundation which was just the Sephora brand and I use a brush to put it on, so I was looking for something with minerals maybe? I would also like it to be good for my oily skin. Any suggestions to which foundations I should try and which to avoid?

I recommend you try Clinique oil free mineral foundation either Superfit or Superbalanced. They are both liquid. Very soft finish both of them. Superfit gives less coverage than Superbalanced. They are both lightweight. I personally use Superbalanced because I need more coverage. I am oily skin as well. So far I am very happy with it. I would say those are the best quality for their price range.

What would you recommend as a really good foundation?

I don't mind spending too much, although I'd say over £20 is a bit far. I'm willing to pay for a really good foundation, one that lasts the day an you don't have to keep reapplying?

Try Clinique Superbalanced makeup. I am very oily skin and you can imagine all foundations run till the end of day. This is the only one that stays all day long. It has a good coverage and a soft finish. It's liquid. It has an amazing price. It's 25 Canadian dollars. I would advice you to go to a Clinique counter and ask to try it on. Wear it all day and see how it works for you. It works for me. As far as I know Estee Lauder has good foundations too but they are a little more expansive for the same quality as Clinique because they use the same factory. Or you can try a Dior as well.

How would i get rid of old scar?i cant wear a knee-length dress just because of my stupid scars.

When I was young, I got a lot of wounds in my legs. I really don't care about them not until now. They make me feel inferior.

I don't think you should feel inferior. I have some myself. Unfortunately there is not too much you can do about it. There are some product on the market for correcting little scars but they are not very efficient. The only way to get rid of them would be plastic surgery. Or you can use some makeup to cover them a bit. That's what I do sometimes when I go out. But other than that I'd say don't bother.

What foundation should i get?!?

I'm almost 13(7th grade)and I am going to start wearing foundation this year(not lots)what foundation would you recommend?DRUGSTORE please:)

I advice you to start with a good product. For example instead of buying a drug store one why don't buy for exact the same amount of money a Clinique Foundation. For your age I would recommend Almost Makeup SPF 15 Foundation from Clinique. A tube last a very long time and it's 25 CAD. It's a soft finish. Doesn't look like you wear too much makeup and gives you enough coverage.

How can i make my morning routeen better? Im always late.

I used to be always late because I use to spend to much time doing my makeup. Now I am ready to go in about 20 min. What I do is to keep my treatment and makeup very handy. For example, I have my own makeup table and while I drink my coffee and eat something I do my makeup. I keep my cleansers in the shower and my treatment on my night table. I have them in my way all the time. I've chanced as well the way I do my makeup a little bit. Instead of doing a perfect line on my upper lid I smudge the line with an angle brush and I don't have to worry about not having an even look. I use 2 colors eye shadows. One close to color of my skin all over and a darker one on half of my eye in the crease. Then I blend with a brush.

Makeup to cover freckles?

My grandma is 63 and she looks very young for her age but she has a lot of freckles and i mean A LOT and she would like to find some make up foundation that might help make them less noticeable, she seems sad because she feels her freckles make her ugly :/ she is a very beautiful woman and id like to help her feel beautiful :) help please?? and nothing that's too expensive i hope!

I recommend Even Better Makeup foundation from Clinique. It's a new product. I use it myself because I have the same concern. It covers very well and has a soft finish at the same time. I am personally happy with. It has some treatment in it to even the skin tone.It very affordable - 30 CAD. It has a very nice texture and you need to use only a tiny bit for all over your face.

(for ex a 3 step system from Clinique) This way you will keep the extra production of oil of your skin under control and you will get rid of whiteheads and scars. Second of all you need to use an oil free foundation with the right texture for your skin needs. ( I suggest Clinique again- Superbalanced oil free foundation. It's liquid, doesn't clog pores, very good coverage and soft finish). You can use a powder foundation as well. As long as it's for your skin type. The only thing about a powder foundation is that doesn't cover as well as the one that I recommended you and shows up more. The texture is thicker.

How to remove olive oil from my makeup brushes?

I saw this makeup brush cleaning tutorial on youtube and it said that a good thing to clean my brushes with is olive oil i tried it and it worked well the only thing is my brushes are all oily and i cant get it out i tried rinsing and re-rinsing but it wont come out i don't want to use the brushes on my skin for fear of clogging my pores!!!???

You've made a big mistake. You never use oil of any kind to clean a makeup brush. A good makeup cleanser it has actually some alcohol in it. Now I would advice you to try Clinique- Makeup Brush Cleanser. I am a very experienced makeup artist and I use it myself. It cleans the brushes very well and keeps their hair conditioned. I don't know how oily your brushes are right now but that's the only product that would help a little.

PS: Pay attention to those kind of tutorials. I've been in cosmetic business for many many years. Of my experience I can tell the real makeup specialists don't have tutorials there. First of all we don't have the time to make those things.

Does a primer REALLY protect your skin or is it a scam just like how 100% natural makeup is good for your skin?

It seems like using a primer or not using a primer DOESN'T protect my skin from allergic reactions, even from 100% natural mineral makeup, as my skin is EXTREMELY hypersensitive?!

First of all the purpose of using a primer is to help your makeup stay all day long, or to keep the shine under control for people with oily skin or to get a better makeup finish. A primer doesn't protect your skin. Some primers have SPF and help a little with sun or light protection.

You describe your skin as hypersensitive. So, it is very important for you to know what to avoid using in cosmetics. The worst irritant is fragrance in both treatment or makeup. Try to use as much as possible fragrance free products. You could try some Clinique, for example. Then it is very important for you to use the right textures and products for your skin needs.

For example, if you use an exfoliator that is too strong for your skin strength than it's too harsh and irritates your skin. Anyway your skin obviously needs very gentle products. And when I say very gentle it means soft ingredients.

What's the best anti-aging day cream for someone with very dry and sensitive skin?

First it is very important to make sure you've been correctly skin typed. There are two types of dryness -lack of water or lack of oil. A very dry skin needs a very rich moisturizer. Yet, there are women they have oily skin but because they are very dehydrated (lack of water) they feel very dry. Those ones need to use a water based oil free moisturizer.
Then, it is advisable for someone with very sensitive skin to use a fragrance free moisturizer. The fragrance is one of the main irritants for your skin... read more

The Winter is here. Our skin changes its condition as the season changes.
In cold weather our skin gets dry, red and uncomfortable. First thing that comes in someone's mind is to use a richer moisturizer. But your skin might need just more water. Even if you use a richer moisturizer you might feel like is still not enough.
Let's first make one thing clear.

How can I tell if a lip color is blue based?

I've heard that if your lip gloss or stick is blue based it make your teeth look whiter and brighter. But I don't know how to tell which colors are blue based.

Big brands usually have a letter on the back of testers that mean which undertone they are. For example: P - LL Rose Aglow . P- means Pink undertone. That's how you know what base they are. To get a blue based lipstick you need to look for purple undertones.
