Are designer makeup brushes really worth the money?

I only have one brush and it cost 20 dollars! Sure, it works fantastic, but it was so expensive! I don't want to break the bank all the time, and my other brushes are really cheap so there's a lot of fall-out. (I use a q-tip or my fingers most of the time). I'm wondering... should I really invest in designer brushes (MAC, etc) because they seem to get great reviews....?

A good makeup brush makes a big difference. MAC has good brushes but there are other brands out there they have even better brushes. For example STILA and BOBBI BROWN. Clinique makeup brushes have an antibacterial coding so they don't grow bacterias. All the big brands like DIOR, YSL, CHANEL,ESTEE LAUDER or LANCOME have very good quality brushes. Whats a good foundation that covers spots but doesn't cause more spots?

Does foundation cause spots? (teenage spots)
What the best foundation not to do that? and the foundation I have at the moment tends to give me dry skin...!
